The Dairyman’s Daughter by Legh Richmond

A short and sweet read, this book was a page turner. Written originally in 1814, the prose exudes the simpleness of the 19th century from the start to the end. But most captivating is the subject of the book, the life of Elizabeth Wallbridge, The Dairyman’s Daughter, particularly of her life altering new-found faith. Oh such remarkable convictions with such regal clarity in the matters of religion, especially during the final moments of living in her earthly body. And such an inspiring tenacity witnessed by the Reverend Legh Richmond, who was the minister at church in Isle of Wright at the time serving; pressed upon him to also author this book as a manner of recounting. Its glimpse into the young woman’s choices, courage, conversion, correspondence, countenance and confidence is both phenomenal and poignant.
